The black half-moon
at the base of my thumbnail
I was watching baseball
while hammering
one full season
to grow out
and be fully gone
The funny ache
deep in my right hip
that I felt constantly
except
when walking uphill
never diagnosed
or treated
stayed for two years
then one March day
left me
never to return
The little chip
in my front tooth
for eighteen years
never noticed by me
at a routine cleaning
the dentist offered to fix it
and ten minutes later
my whole face
changed
how long, this visitor?
I cannot predict.
