in the early morning
office small talk
who is in
and who is out today
everyone hates
the new billing software
and will they let you expense
the cigarette lighter
converter thingys
for the portable printers

and I had this flash
of an image
of walking through a room
in a towel
out the door
barefoot
and down three steps
onto the grass
and in the dark
the length of the dock
drop the towel
a pause
and a stretch
one hand down
a small hop
and in
now rippling moonlight
away from me
and then
all the way in
water
and skin

why these flashes
the lightning rod of this
making conduit
to that
I do not know.
